soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark

Definitions of the Gifts (manifestations) of the Spirit
www.exceedingfaith.org
1 Corinthians 12: 4-11
:4 There are diversities of gifts, but
the same Spirit.
:5 There are differences of ministries,
but the same Lord.
:6 And there are diversities of activities,
but it is the same God who
works all in all.
:7 But the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the
profit of all:
:8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to
another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,
:9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by
the same Spirit,
:10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another
discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to
another the interpretation of tongues.
:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to
each one individually as He wills.

Are they Gifts or Manifestations?
We often refer to these as 'The Gifts of the Spirit'
Paul’s first use of the word ‘gifts’ in this passage, is actually in verse 4.
Notice however that in the next couple of verses he also talks about, ‘ministries’, ‘activities’ and ‘the manifestation of the Spirit’.
‘Ministries’ or
‘administrations’ (KJV) are mentioned in reference to
the Lord – Jesus (verse 5)
‘Activities’ or ‘operations’ (KJV) are mentioned in reference to God – The Father (verse 6)
‘Activities’ or ‘operations’ (KJV) are mentioned in reference to God – The Father (verse 6)
In reference to the Spirit, Paul uses ‘gifts’ (verse 4) and ‘manifestation’ (verse 7)
The word translated ‘gifts’ is ‘charisma’ meaning:
a (divine) gratuity, i.e.
deliverance (from danger or passion);
(specially), a (spiritual) endowment, i.e. (subjectively) religious
qualification, or (objectively) miraculous faculty:--(free) gift.
The Word translated ‘manifestation’ is ‘phanerosis’ meaning:
exhibition, i.e. (figuratively)
expression, (by extension) a
bestowment:--manifestation.
