The question about whether faith is needed to receive healing has caused a lot of controversy and confusion. The following groups of scriptures help answer this issue

When we group the healing accounts in Jesus' ministry according to 'who initiated the healing' (in other words who made the first approach for healing in each account - was it Jesus approaching the sick person, or the sick person approaching Jesus?), we can notice a very interesting pattern emerging connected to faith and receiving from God:

 

(Please note that we are not including cases where people were delivered from demons here, that is for another study. These are specifically healing related incidents, although a couple of these healing related instances were demon related, so are included here) 

 

A)    The following table lists cases where Jesus initiated the healing:

In each of these cases faith is NOT specifically mentioned as a factor in the person being healed.

Notice how many of these faith is SPECIFICALLY referred to in their healing
